Canceled Too Soon #167 | Jekyll (2007)
Before Stephen Moffat updated Sherlock Holmes for the 21st century, in the megahit BBC series "Sherlock," he went back in time and brought back a monster. JEKYLL stars James Nesbitt ("The Hobbit") as Dr. Tom Jackman, a mild-mannered scientist who keeps transforming into an amoral, violent and uncontrollable new personality. But there's more to the story than meets the eye, and more than you'd ever find in the book!
JEKYLL lasted only one season, six short episodes, but although Moffat claims to have written a second season that never came to fruition. Was the series... CANCELED TOO SOON? Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold will find out in an all-new episode of the podcast, as our GHASTLYTOBER continues!

Everyone's second-favorite 1960s sitcom about a family of monsters living in suburbia got an all-star reboot with 2012's MOCKINGBIRD LANE! This reimagining of THE MUNSTERS stems from HANNIBAL producer Bryan Fuller, and stars Jerry O'Connell, Portia De Rossi, Charity Wakefield and Eddie Izzard as creepy creatures trying to live inconspicuously in polite society, while also occasionally killing some people.
It's creepy, it's kooky, but it's ain't THE ADDAMS FAMILY. It's the Munsters all over again, and it may very well have been CANCELED TOO SOON!
Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold exhume this notorious failed pilot to determine if MOCKINGBIRD LANE deserved to buried alive in foul earth of pop culture history, or whether it's worthy of resurrection.

RIPLEY. With an all-star cast that includes Ian Holm, Ian Richardson, Ian McShane and Niccol Williamson, MISTRESS OF SUSPENSE - or, as it was called in America, CHILLERS - is an unusual entry in the horror anthology genre, in which the supernatural doesn't seem to exist... except maybe in a rooster.

Film critics William Bibbiani and Witney Seibold explore its extremely British tales of murder and madness in an all-new episode of the podcast, which kicks off GHASTLYTOBER... our Halloween celebration of short-lived horror shows!
